Nelda Fornetti

Nelda Fornetti, 98, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Monday, December 3, 2012 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital. She was born on May 6, 1914 in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Alphonse and Bambina (Fontecchio) Cerasoli. Nelda graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1933 and was a lifelong resident of the area. She married David J. Fornetti on July 5, 1941 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. Nelda was a member of the Lady Elks, the Daughters of Isabella and the Paisano Club. She was also a member of both Immaculate Conception and St. Mary & St. Joseph Catholic Churches where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Nelda enjoyed bowling and playing cards and had a love for Bingo. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nelda is survived by her son, David (Linda) Fornetti of Iron Mountain; two granddaughters, Sandi (Tom) Tollefson of Louisville, KY and Sara (Erik) Kleiman of Iron Mountain; eight great grandchildren, Aidan, Kiernan, Fiona and Riley Tollefson and Amanda, Jürgen, Anja and Jäeger Kleiman; and several nieces and nephews including a very close niece, June Constantini. In addition to her parents and husband, Nelda was preceded in death by four brothers, Victor, Tony, Faust and Fritz Cerasoli and three sisters, Mary Secinaro, Teresa Biedrzycki and Peggy Ganga. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:00 to 11:00am at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am at the funeral home. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park. A luncheon will be served immediately following the burial at Redemption Hill Church in Kingsford. Pallbearers will be Erik Kleiman, Tom Tollefson, Aidan Tollefson, Michael Constantini, Ted A. Fornetti, and Ron Cerasoli. Nelda's great grandsons Kiernan Tollefson, Jürgen Kleiman and Jäeger Kleiman will serve as honorary pallbearers.
