Nancy Cudnohufsky

Nancy E (Pilon) Cudnohufsky, 87, of Iron Mountain, Michigan passed away peacefully on Tuesday November 24, 2020 at Freeman Nursing home. Lloyd J Cudnohufsky, 90, of Iron Mountain, MI passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at Freeman Nursing home. Nancy was born April 2, 1933, in Escanaba to the late Louis and Violet V (Chaillier) Pilon. Nancy graduated from Iron Mountain High school in 1951. Lloyd was born February 17, 1930 in Niagara, WI to the late Rudolph and Blanche (Chamberlain) Cudnohufsky. At the age of 17 Lloyd enlisted and received his GED through the Navy. On May 23, 1953, Lloyd and Nancy married at St Mary & St Joseph Catholic Church. Lloyd was stationed on the East Coast for 13 years where their family grew to include five children. They moved back to their hometown of Iron Mountain and purchased and operated The Iron Mountain Machine Shop and started Tazer Manufacturing. Nancy enrolled in community college to learn bookkeeping for the businesses, which they operated together for almost 50 years. They both loved traveling and had the opportunity to travel to Europe, Asia, Hawaii, and throughout the United States. Nancy was an excellent seamstress and shared her talents as a 4-H leader. She loved to knit and bake, especially with the apples from her orchard. She also loved reading, playing games, bird watching and gardening. Lloyd was a skilled precision metal machinist and master craftsman. One of the last projects Lloyd was instrumental in completing was the WWII Waco CG-4 glider, that was mass produced at the Kingsford Ford Motor Plant, currently on display in Iron Mountain, MI. In addition to the passion he had for metal work and operating his businesses, he was an avid outdoor enthusiast. He was a superb woodsman, hunter and fisherman. He spent many years fishing the great lakes on his boats. He was an excellent marksman and shared his outdoor passions with his family, teaching them the skills of hunting. He enjoyed many other hobbies throughout his life such as wood carving, model building and RC planes to name but a few. Lloyd served on the American Welding Society and was instrumental in teaching welding to his grandsons Alex & Anthony, as well as many other young men & women. Left to cherish their memory are their children, Jared (Shawna) Cudnohufsky of Kingsford, MI; Paula (Danny) Pummill of Triangle, VA; Laura (Michael) Mainville of Iron Mountain, MI; Lloyd R (Lorrie) Cudnohufsky of Hanceville, AL; and Aaron (Laurie) Cudnohufsky of Grant, FL. Nancy is survived by her siblings, Gary (Janice) Pilon, Randy (Cindy) Pilon, Debbie (Steve) Krueger, Renee (Chris) Wilson; sister-in-law, Joann Pilon; and brother-in-law, Dave Palmcook. Lloyd is survived by his siblings, Irene Ebidon, Ret. Lt. Col. Eugene Cudnohufsky and Ronnie Cudnohufsky. Nancy and Lloyd loved and cherished time with their grandchildren, Alex Cudnohufsky, Anthony (Lexi) Cudnohufsky, Jason (Karrie) Pummill, Jamie Pummill, Danny B (Amy) Pummill, Michael C (Teresa) Mainville, Angela (Neal) Jack, Gwenn Mainville, Nicholas Mainville, Benjamin Mainville, David (Ginger) Cudnohufsky, Jessica (Rudy) Cecrle, Kayte Frahm, Josh Cudnohufsky, Lorrin Cudnohufsky, Shawn (Annette) Cudnohufsky, Corry Cudnohufsky, and Tyler Cudnohufsky. They are also survived by many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many other wonderful family and friends. In addition to their parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her brother, Robert (Bob) Pilon, and dear sister, Carol Palmcook. Lloyd was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Donald Ebidon. Family extends heartfelt appreciation to the Arms of Angels and Freeman Nursing & Rehab staff for the love and support provided over the years. Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 21st from 9:00 am until 10:30 am at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. Fr. Janusz Romanek will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Dickinson County Memorial Gardens. Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50 will accord military graveside honors. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Menominee Range Historical Museum, Iron Mountain, MI or the American Welding Society in their memory.
