Mary Hart

Mary Catherine Hart, 75, of Iron Mountain, died on Saturday, May 1, 2010, surrounded by her family at HCR ManorCare in Kingsford. She was born on Sept. 21, 1934, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Albert and Laura (Staley) LaVigne. Mary attended the Iron Mountain schools, graduating from Iron Mountain High School in 1953. She married Donald Hart at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain in 1954, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 22, 1999. Mary worked as a telephone operator for Michigan Bell for many years retiring in 1990. She was a member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mary was involved with Friends of the Museum and loved to play bingo. She loved her shopping trips to Green Bay with her girls and spending time with her family and friends. Mary is survived by a son, Jeffrey Hart of Iron Mountain; daughters, Cathy (Calvin) Larson of Iron Mountain, Laurie (Kenneth) Estes of Clarkesville, Tenn., and Lynn Hart of Iron Mountain; grandchildren, Erin (Justin) Larson Pease, Erik Larson, Crystal Hart, Nichole Hart, Katie (fiance, Damien) Estes, Ashley (Nick) Delos Reyes, and Joshua Estes; great-grandchildren, Alexis Estes, Desiree Hart, Kayla LaFave, Parker Hart, and Madilyn Pease. Mary is also survived by her siblings, Hector "Buck" (Shirley) LaVigne of Iron Mountain, Jerry (Ruthie) LaVigne Iron Mountain, Phyllis (Donald) Wartick of Beecher, Wis., and Pat (Beth) LaVigne of Iron Mountain. Mary also leaves behind two special women who were like daughters to her, Beth LaVigne and Lisa (Scott) LaFreniere. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Fr. Paul Nomellini will officiate. Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park. Brian LaVigne, Michael LaVigne, Adam LaVigne, and Erik Larson will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her memory.
