Mary J. Brackett

Mary J. Brackett 82, of Kingsford., passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Dickinson County Hospital System. Mary was born on February 15, 1933 in Kingsford, MI. She was the only daughter of the late Paul and Mary (Schuppe) Farrington. Mary has been a lifelong resident of Kingsford and was a 1951 graduate of Kingsford High School. She married Gerald Brackett on June 11, 1955 at American Martrys church in Kingsford. Mary worked as the receptionist for Dr. McEachran for several years.. She was a member of American Martyrs Church and was active in the church guild. She enjoyed her neighborhood card club, picking berries and raising her family on Lawrence Street in Kingsford. Mary loved to jitterbug in her younger years and was a very classy woman. Giving was one of Mary’s finest qualities and she helped her family every way she could. She also loved taking trips with her cousin to the casino right up to the ripe old age of 82. She loved holiday gatherings and good, quality homemade food. Mary's family was the center of her life and her legacy is the wonderful memories she leaves to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her children; Lauri (Daniel) Oberdorfer of Kingsford and James (Karen) Brackett of Kingsford; brother, James (Lisa) Farrington of Sagola; seven grandchildren, Bridget (Jason) Raiche, Justin, Katie and Logan Brackett, Jaime (Ian) Powell, Angela (Jesse) DeBacker and Luke (Paige) Oberdorfer; seven great grandchildren, Meela and Benjamin DeBacker, Madison and Paisley Raiche, Cabella Brackett, Matthew Powell and Joyce Peterson; many special cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Sunday, October 25, 2015 from 4:00-6:00 pm at the Kingsford Funeral Home of Kingsford. Memorial Mass will be at 11:00 am Monday, October 26th at American Martyrs Church in Kingsford. Fr. Joseph Gouin will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in the Quinnesec Cemetery.
