Mary E. Bauer

Mary Ethel Bauer, 81, of Hardwood, passed away on Saturday October 15, 2016. She was born October 7, 1935, in Hardwood to the late Chester & Thelma(Erickson) McGuire. She grew up in Escanaba. Mary married Robert (Bob) Bauer on June 20, 1953 in Escanaba. They spent 63 wonderful years together in Hardwood, working hard on their farm & raising their family. Mary is survived by her loving husband, Bob; Children, Marilyn(Carl)Steinbrecher, Mike Bauer and Jeff(Brenda)Bauer; Grandchildren, Kris(Lindsey)Steinbrecher, Chad (Becky)Steinbrecher, Angie(Jon)Jungwirth, Travis(Becca) Steinbrecher, Jeremy(Laurel) Bauer, Stacy(Paul)Dani, Amanda Bauer(Bill McNew), Tyler Bauer, Derick(Brooke) Collins ; Great Grandchildren, Maia, Aly, Izzy, Julia, Lucas, Kathryn, Brady, Lauren, Carli, Vincent, Madalynn, Carson, Bella, Michael, Nicholi, Landon, Leelan, Liam, Larissa, Shay, Kenzie, Caleb, Donald; Her brother, Roy(Bonnie)McGuire; Her sister Linda (Richard)Lantagne; Brother-in-law Lem LaBonte, Sisters in law, Sharon McGuire and Donna McGuire. Brother and Sister in law, Richard and Phyllis Bauer, Marvin and Barb Casperson; Special Friends, Jeanne and Tom Murray; Many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Don; Sisters Ethel LaBonte, Dianna LaBonte, and Margaret Casperson; Brothers Wilbert(Diane), John and Richard McGuire; Sister in law Dorothy(Martin)Quarnstrom. The joy in her life was spending time with family and friends, playing cards, cooking and listening to county music with Bob. Everyone who visited was made to feel welcome; warmly greeted with a huge bear hug and never left without eating. Memories of her childhood were cherished, as their home was always filled with love, and she often commented “that’s all you really need”; along with something she often said, “treat others how you want them to treat you”. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Her Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers. Visitation will be from 1-4 pm at the Mission Covenant Church in Foster City with the funeral Service following at 4 pm. Burial will be at the Foster City Cemetery.
