Marvin Emond

Marvin Keith Emond, 46, of Kingsford past away quietly at home on Friday, Feb. 10th, 2012 with family present, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Marvin was born on Dec. 8th, 1965 in Iron Mountain, the son of Earl "Guzz" Emond and Janice (Stebbins) Emond. He was a lifelong resident of Kingsford, graduating from KHS in 1984. Marv was always a hard working, dedicated, honest employee. His most recent job of many years was with U.S. Special Delivery until he became unable to work. He lived with such a positive outlook and sense of humor it surpassed most, even on his darkest days. He would comment on all the nice people he met through his sickness, that it could always be worse, and he would assure us that things would be better tomorrow. Marvin took it upon himself to pass his knowledge and traditions on to his family and most importantly to him, his nieces and nephews. He often said they were his reason to keep going. He taught them how to drive, change oil and tires, and many other skills needed in everyday life. Marvin enjoyed spending time at camp with family and friends. Many days were spent teaching his nieces and nephews how to hunt safely or getting them stuck or lost on the 4-wheelers. He was a teacher, guide, companion, and friend to the kids. They could always count on him, as many of us did. Whether it was kayaking, an unexpected phone call for a trip to destination unknown or some other adventure, Marv was always ready to lead. His personality and humor will be a gift forever treasured by those who knew him best. Marvin will be greatly missed. Marvin is survived by his mom, Janice, of Kingsford; brother, Ray (Debbie) Emond of Spread Eagle and Ray's son Timothy Emond and his family; two sisters, Carol (Tim) Pietsch and their children: Nicole, Keri, Brandon, and Amanda of Breitung Township; and Holly (Jack) Pearce and their children: Amy, Jacob, Emily, and Joseph of Iron Mountain. He is also survived by many special aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Marvin was preceded in death by his dad, Earl "Guzz" Emond in 2003; his paternal grandparents, Charles and Ethel Emond; maternal grandma, Adele Stebbins, and several loved aunts and uncles. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 16th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:oo a.m. at the Kingsford Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, February 16th at 11:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Rev. Michael March will officiate.
