Marjorie Amato

SPREAD EAGLE, Wis. - Marjorie Lucille Amato, 91, went to be with her heavenly father, on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009, at Maryhill Manor in Niagara. Marge was born Feb. 3, 1918, in Chicago to Professor Charles and Lucille Hjerpe. She grew up in the North Park area of Chicago, graduated from North Park Academy in 1936 and North Park junior College in 1938. On Feb. 24, 1945, Marge married Anthony (Tony) Amato. They lived in Denver, until moving to Spread Eagle more than 30 years ago. This February she and Tony would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. She was an active member of PEO Sisterhood Chapter CX, Thursday Scholar's Bible Study, and was a former member of the Iron Mountain Women's Club. She was a longtime member of the North Park Covenant Church and attended First Covenant Church in Iron Mountain. Everyone loved Marge. Her infectious laughter and sparkling personality set her apart in any group. She will be sadly missed by her nieces, nephews, their children and her many friends. The family spent many happy summers together at Spread Eagle. She loved to play bridge and her favorite saying was "I didn't come here to lose!" She leaves us physically, but will remain in our hearts and memories forever. Coming together to celebrate her wonderful life will be her husband, Tony; nieces and nephews, Terry (Ken) Sovey of Spread Eagle, Chuck (Cindy) Hjerpe of Dallas and Barbara (Joseph) Caccamisi, Donna (Butch) Brown, Sue (Ed) Langford, and Steve (Karen) Hjerpe, all of Memphis, Tenn. area. She will be greatly missed by her great-nieces and nephews, Ken, Greg and Brian Sovey, Stacy, Terry and Michael Hjerpe, Russ and Eric Graham; Kari and Chad Henderson, Ryan Langford and Haley Hjerpe. She also leaves her nieces and nephews, Ursula (Bob) Martin, Joseph Scuro Jr., Terri Carrano, Charles (Mary Jean) Marino, Andrew (Diane) Carrano, Vincent (Tina) Scuro, Caroline Hunter and Jeanie (Sonny) Idol. Many great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great nieces and great-great nephews and two sisters-in-law, Phil (Joseph Sr.) Scuro and Myra Amato. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Terence and Warren. Visitation will Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Peter Erickson from the First Covenant Church will officiate. Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park. Pallbearers will be Ken Sovey, Chuck Hjerpe, Joseph Caccamisi, Greg Sovey, Brian Sovey, Steve Hjerpe, Sonny Idol and Andrew Carrano.
