Marguerite Anne "Peg" Coello

Marguerite "Peg" Coello, 68, of Iron Mountain, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, at the Oscar G. Johnson V. A. Medical Center. She was born on March 14, 1942, in Milwaukee, the daughter of the late John and Jeanne (Achtenhagen) Coello. Peg moved to Iron Mountain as a child and graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1960. She served in the U.S. Navy from 1960-1963. She lived in Oakland, Calif., where she worked in catalog sales at Sears. In 1975, she moved back to Iron Mountain, working at the Holiday Motel, Citgo, and Warehouse Foods. In 1989, she became a switchboard operator at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital, retiring in October 2009. Peg was also an Avon representative for many years. Peg was a "Jewelry Maven" and people often complimented her on her beautiful jewelry. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed shopping on the Home Shopping Network, reading, and watching movies. Peg loved the ocean and made three trips to Oregon to see the ocean. Peg is survived by one brother, Richard "Rick" Coello of Shawano, Wis.; two sisters, Judy (John) Carlson of Iron Mountain and Mary Jeanne (Will Willman) Coello of Yachats, Ore.; six nieces and nephews, Christine (Bill) McMahon of Foster City, Robert Carlson of Foster City, Michael (Nancie) Carlson of Iron Mountain, Fawn (Mike Mittleton) Phelps of Boston, Mass., Shane Coello of Iron Mountain and Cierra Coello of Iron Mountain; five great-nieces and great-nephews, Jim McMahon, Laura Carlson, Chelsey Carlson, Celeste Mittleton, and Max Mittleton. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Tondin-Ross & Freeman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park. A special thank you is given to Peg's niece, Christine McMahon, and her loving family for all of their help and loving care. The family would also like to thank the Victorian Pines staff and the V.A. Community Living Center staff for the compassionate care they gave Peg this past year.
