Leona Louise Heidtke

KINGSFORD - Leona "Lee" Louise Heidtke, 81, of N3793 Bluff View Drive in Breitung Township, died peacefully on Saturday, March 20, 2010, at ManorCare Heath Center in Kingsford. She was born on Sept. 15, 1928, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Carl and Lillian (Johnson) Krooks. She graduated from Kingsford High School in 1947. On Sept. 24, 1949, she married David Heidtke in Iron Mountain and together they raised two sons, Dave and Dean. Later in life, she was blessed with two granddaughters, Lauren and Rozalyn and a great-grandson, Rami. Lee was an active member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Quinnesec. She enjoyed listening to music played by her granddaughters and singing hymns. She was known for her baking, especially her home-baked bread and pies. She loved the outdoors and camping with her family. Even in her later years, she enjoyed nothing better than driving her golf cart through the trails in their beautiful Pine Creek property. Lee never wanted more from life than to share the love of her family. She had an open heart and was loved by many. She is survived by husband, Dave Heidtke; sons, David (Clare) Heidtke of Petoskey, Mich. and Dean (Sally) Heidtke of Iron Mountain; granddaughters, Lauren (Raad) Amer of Virginia and Roz Heidtke of Grand Rapids, Mich.; great-grandson, Rami Amer; brother, Calvin (Jean) Krooks of Norway; brothers-in-law, Lloyd Root of Milwaukee, Melvin Heidtke of Racine, Wis., and John Heidtke of Hawaii; sisters-in-law, Laverne Haigh of Iron Mountain, Marcella (Micky) Kolba of Racine, and Lorraine Bulgrin of Marinette, Wis.l and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by a brother, Carl (Bud) Krooks and sisters, Margaret Gustafson and Kay Root. Visitation will be Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will follow Thursday at 12 noon at the church. Rev.
