Kenneth Wickman

Kenneth W. Wickman, 78, of Iron Mountain, died Fri. Oct. 12, 2012 at ManorCare in Kingsford. He was born on Oct. 26, 1933, the son of the late Wallace and Adeline Strolberg Wickman. Ken graduated from Kingsford High School in 1951. He spent two years in an apprenticeship at Ford Motor Co. for tool and die making. He then went to work at Detroit Kellering and Republic Die and Tool. Ken moved back to Iron Mountain in 1963, where he and his father started Wickman Welding. He retired from Wickman Welding in 1995. Ken married Patricia Gibson on Nov. 14, 1953 at Augustana Lutheran Church in Detroit. Together the couple raised 6 children, Susan, Debbie, Dale, Gary, Tim, and Dan. The couple had a family camp for over 40 years and spent 17 winters in Apache Junction, AZ. Ken's first love was his wife, Pat. His second love was trout fishing on Lake Superior out of Skanee. He also enjoyed going to camp, hunting, and cutting wood. He was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher, greeter, and church council member. Ken enjoyed 31 wonderful years in AA fellowship, where he touched the lives of many individuals. Ken is survived by his wife, Patricia, five children Susan (Rick) Lundholm of Iron Mountain, Debbie (Gene) Davis of Kingsford, Dale Wickman of Mission Viejo, CA, Tim (Erin) Wickman, of Gladstone, and Dan Wickman of Kingsford, a daughter-in-law Jill Wickman of Covington, OH, one brother David (Jan) Wickman of Vulcan, two sisters Marlene (Richard) Azarovitz of Detroit, and Sharon (John) Fredrickson of Kingsford, seven grandchildren Craig Charette, Carrie Charette, Peter (Lindsay) Cummings, Andy Cummings, Jessica Wickman, Hannah Wickman, and Mikayla Wickman, six step grandchildren, five great grandchildren, with one due in July, thirteen step great grandchildren with one due in February, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his son Major Gary Wickman, a son-in-law Don Charette, and a step grandson Michael. Visitation will be Tues. from 10am-1pm at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be Tues. at 1pm at the church. Rev. Stephen Cowen and Rev. Lee Liverance will co-officiate. Burial will be in Quinnesec Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ken's sons and grandsons. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be made to some of Ken's favorite charities/organizations. Condolences to the family of Kenneth W.
