Kenneth Hamby

IRON MOUNTAIN - Kenneth R. Hamby,69, of 504 East E St. Iron Mountain, passed away Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009 at his home. Ken was born February 20, 1940 in Anawalt, West Virginia son of the late Sherman and Alene (Sexton) Hamby. He graduated from Channing High School in 1957 and then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving for eight years. Ken was a member of the Teamsters Union and drove truck for Schneider Transport for over 20 years, retiring in 1998. He then worked as a security guard at Appleton Coated for about three years. On October 8, 2002 Ken married Dolores "Dee" (Schinderle) Tauscheck. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved spending time with his family. Ken enjoyed going to camp, hunting, John Deere tractors and lighthouses. He is survived by his wife, Dolores "Dee"; four children, Sylvia (Greg) Crouch of Appleton, Phillip Hamby of Neenah, Natalie (Steve) Burwell of Appleton and Patrick (Sharon) Hamby of England; five step-children, Michael (Mary) Geronomi Jr. of Kingsford, Cynthia (Scott) Schmidt of Island Lake, IL, Ferdinand (Lisa) Tauscheck Jr. of Las Cruces, NM, Lisa (Bob) Salczenko and Timmy Tauscheck, both of Iron Mountain; a brother, Donald (Florence) Hamby of Randville; two sisters, Wanda (Robert) Roell of Iron Mountain and Rita (Ronald) Olson of Kingsford; four sisters-in-law, Mary Hamby and Dorothy, Theresa and Sheila Schinderle; 10 grandchildren, 14 step- grandchildren, four great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Hamby and a sister, Lessie Carlson. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:30 to 11:30am at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will follow at 11:30am at the funeral home. Fr. Joseph Gouin will officiate. Pallbearers will be: Robert Salczenko, Michael Geronimi, Jr., Timmy Tauschek, Phillip and Patrick Hamby, and Steve Burwell. Burial will be in Cemetery Park.
