Joyce A. "Cookie" Santini

Joyce A. “Cookie” Santini, 81, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2016 at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay, WI. She was born April 22, 1934 in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Frank and Marion (Kimichick) Santini. Cookie graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1952 and was a lifelong resident of the area. She was employed at the Niagara Paper Mill for 35 years as an administrative secretary, retiring in 1997. Cookie received an award from the mill for never missing a day of work in 30 years. She was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. Cookie was also a member of Pine Grove Country Club and the YMCA where she swam every morning. Cookie enjoyed gardening, golfing and playing cards at Bridge Club and in smear tournaments. She was an excellent cook and made delicious pierogis. Cookie’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. The time that she spent with them was the happiest and most important moments of her life. She absolutely adored her great-grandchildren and anyone who asked her, “How many great grandchildren do you have?” would hear the reply, “Six and every one is perfect!” Cookie will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl (Tom) Schorman of Iron Mountain; a son, Craig Sjoberg of Portland, OR; three grandchildren, Sandra (Sheridan) Seale, Bryan (Jeannie) Schorman and Alyssa (Brock) Wallis; six great grandchildren, Rhys Seale, Brandon & Zack Schorman, and Talia, Eli & Lakyn Wallis; and several nieces and nephews. Cookie was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin (Janet) Santini and Frank “Fluff” (Maryanne) Santini. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30 am on Tuesday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral in Iron Mountain. The funeral mass will be offered at 12:00 noon on Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.
