Joyce A. Byloff

Joyce A. Byloff, 91, of Kingsford, died Tues. Aug. 26, 2014 at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford. She was born on March 30, 1923 in Fence, WI, the daughter of the late Emil and Martha (Greeno) Wickstrom. Joyce graduated from Goodman High School and received her Nursing degree from Swedish Covenant in Chicago. She worked as a nurse for Swedish Covenant Hospital and Children's Hospital, both in Chicago and at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital . Joyce was kind, nurturing, and had an unconditional love for her family and all who knew her. She was very involved in her children's activities and treated their friends as if they were her own children. Education was very important to Joyce and she made sure that her three children attended college. She married Dr. Forrest Byloff on June 1, 1946 in Chicago, IL. He preceded her in death on December. 31, 1989. The couple lived in Kewanee, IL until moving to Fence in 1952, and to Kingsford in 1962. She was a volunteer at many places, including school and the hospital. She was a fifty year member of the G.F.W.C. Women's Club and was a member of the Edward D. Jones Investor's Club. She enjoyed flower gardening and was proud of her beautiful yard. She also enjoyed antiques, collectibles, and traveling. Joyce is survived by her special family friend Jerry Palmcook of Kingsford; one daughter Joanne Reen of Grand Rapids; one sister Patricia Kalish of Brookfield, WI; two daughters-in-law Andrea Byloff of Dallas, TX and Patricia Byloff of Colorado Springs, CO; seven grandchildren Laura (Jimmy) Smith of Plano, TX, Sarah (Rick) Von of Dallas, Nathan (Brooke) Byloff of Dallas, Peter (Erin) Reen of Gilbert, AZ, Marc (Kari) Reen of Holland, MI, Wesley Byloff of Colorado Springs and Emma Byloff of Colorado Springs; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sons Wesley F. Byloff and David C. Byloff; two sisters Grace Wickstrom and Irma Gould; and one brother Wesley Wickstrom.
