Joyce Brule

Joyce Brule, 93, of Kingsford, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain. Joyce was born July 24, 1926 in Mohawk, MI, daughter of the late August and Ellen (Harma) Zerbst. She graduated from Houghton High School in 1944. Joyce married Warren Brule on April 12, 1947 in Hancock, MI, and the couple enjoyed 69 years of marriage. Warren preceded her in death on January 17, 2016. Joyce was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother, always putting family first. She was a member of the Iron Mountain-Kingsford Women’s Club, the Chippewa Club, Pine Grove Country Club and volunteered at the V.A. Hospital for many years. Joyce and Warren had a passion for traveling in their motor coach and spent over 25 years crisscrossing North America with a great sense of adventure and curiosity. Joyce loved needlework and spent many hours sewing, cross stitching and crocheting. She also enjoyed camping, reading, doing puzzles and spending time on her I-pad. Joyce is survived by two children, David (Thu) Brule and Joyel (Gary) Loturelle; four grandchildren, Ellette (Johan) Nyman, David (Stephanie) Brule, Jonathan (Christi) Brule, and Anne-Marie (Brandon) Kavulla; 11 great grandchildren, David (Susanne) Nyman and Michael Nyman; Nick, Katie, and David Brule III; Max, Sam, and Olivia Brule; Anastasia, Adam, and Adeline Kavulla. In addition to her parents and husband, Joyce was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Douglas Zerbst and two sisters, Carmen Crawford and Faith Lehto. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 am on Thursday, February 27 at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Services will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will officiate. Entombment will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Almost Home Animal Shelter in Quinnesec.
