Joanne Rutter

Joanne D. Rutter 77, of Ralph, passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at her home surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on November 10, 1934 in Benton Harbor, Michigan, daughter of the late Spencer and Frances (Hall) Umphrey. She married Lindsay Rutter on Jan. 29, 1952 in St. Joseph, Michigan, and he preceded her in death on November 18, 2006. She worked as a custodian for the First National Bank for many years. Joanne enjoyed hunting deer, bear, and mushrooms with her family. She loved playing Bingo whenever she got the chance. Through the years her and Lindsay's home was usually filled with the laughter of visiting friends and family. She was preceded in death by her brother in-laws, Pat and Lyle Rutter. Joanne is survived by her children, Brian (Marie Edwards) Rutter of Aurora, Vicky (Robert) Corsi of Quinnesec, and Bruce Rutter of Ralph; brother, Duane (Betty) Umphrey of Benton Harbor; Grandchildren and great grandchildren, Shaya (David) Shatz and their children Ariel, Miyah, and Isaiah; Michelle (Brad) Pellegrini and their children Breanne and Kaitlyn; Rob (Jennifer) Corsi and their children Sydney, Brendan and Kyley; Scott (Melissa) Rutter and their children Bailey and Nathan; Brandon (Tracy) Rutter and their children, Addison and Claire; Danny Perham and his children, Tim and Danielle; brothers in-law, Walter (Bonnie) Rutter of Stevensville, MI and Edwin (Peggy) Rutter of Benton Harbor, MI; many nieces, nephews and special friends. Visitation will be on Thursday from 10:00 am to 12 noon at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral home in Iron Mountain. The funeral service will follow at 12 noon at the funeral home. Joanne's nephew Lyle Rutter will officiate. Burial will be in the Felch Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Scott Rutter, Brandon Rutter,Lyle "Skip" Rutter and Lyle Merrill.
