Jo Jo A. Folz

Jo-Jo Folz, 58, passed away unexpectedly on Sept. 20, 2019 at the Florence Health Services, due to a fall at home and was there for rehabilitation. When Jo Jo first arrived there, she said to me, “Micky, I beat the cancer. Why can’t I beat this? I guess the Good Lord knew it wasn’t meant to be. For only He knows our destiny.” She was born on Nov. 30, 1960 to her parents, Duane and Dorothy Folz of Florence, WI. Jo-Jo was a lifelong resident to the area. Jo-Jo had a quiet strength, compassion and kindness for people, especially the elderly. She went on to become an LPN for 30 years, until an injury ended her career. She never stopped being a nurse. Jo-Jo loved all animals, especially her rescue dog “Abbey,” who came to her broken, and she made her whole again. She loved her pet skunks, a Tarantula named “Spidey” that she had for 37 years, and many rescue dogs. Jo-Jo was a “fierce” fan of the Minnesota Vikings, and no one would know that better than her good friend, Nancy Klee. They watched the Vikings play together for years. I called them the “Purple Partners in Crime.” She sure missed you when you moved. Jo-Jo leaves behind Brother Todd and Sister Micky from Florence and Uncle David “Doc” and Aunt Darlene Folz from Rhinelander. Also left behind are Special Niece Mackenzie, Ken Eller and family, also from Florence, and many loving family and friends. Waiting to bring Jo-Jo home, with tears in their eyes and open arms, were her Mother Dorothy, Father George, Sister Laurel, cousin and friend Bruce Folz, and family and friends. A sincere thank you to Max, Ken, and Bacon-Bits. Also thank you to long time friend, Kaye Whaley. You all were there for Jo-Jo until the end, and she loved you so much. And to Erickson-Rochon and Nash Cremation Services, Tom, through your kindness and guidance, you have made this a little easier. You are a gift from God, and Todd and I are forever grateful. Jo-Jo was diagnosed last fall with cancer. Thank you Dr. Charlene Greene for finding it. She was a true warrior. She stood in faith and courage and never faltered. When I stumbled, she would say, “Micky, it will be okay.” She was so brave, and it was such an honor for Todd and I to walk beside her through her journey. With Todd at her feet and me stroking her hair as she was taking her final breaths, I finally got to say, “Jo-Jo, it will be okay!” We love you Sister. Jo-Jo was a very private person, and in honor of her, the services will also be private. Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers.
