Jeanette Ann Schaut

Jeanette Ann Schaut, 90, of Kingsford, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at HCR ManorCare in Kingsford. She was born on March 12, 1924 in Menominee, Michigan daughter of the late Napoleon and Anna (Berg) Gagnon. She moved to Kingsford at a young age, and attended the Kingsford schools, graduating from Kingsford High School in 1942. She married John H. Schaut on June 30, 1945 in Iron Mountain, and he preceded her in death on September 6, 2001 after more than 56 wonderful years together. After raising her children, Jeanette went to work at the Kresge Store in Iron Mountain, first as sales clerk and later doing clerical work in the office for a total of 20 years. Jeanette was a member of St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church. She was a great cook who especially loved making her French Meat Pies at Christmas and baking cookies for all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren for all of the holidays. She was very proud of her home where she loved to clean and keep her house immaculate. She was very proud of her family, and always would say that God gave her the 3 best daughters in the world. Her family was her life. She was Grandma Net to all who knew her and was a wonderful host whose house was open to anyone, and if you were there, you were family. She loved flowers and gardening and a well kept lawn. Neighborhood kids were always welcome to play in her large yard and could always get a treat from Grandma Net. She was a very hard worker, who in her free time loved her crossword puzzles. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, John and Richard Gagnon. Jeanette is survived by her loving daughters, Sue (Gary) Proudfit of Iron Mountain, Sally (Homer) Swan of Kingsford, and Mary (Jack) Andreini of Kingsford; 7 grandchildren Jane (David) Tomasoski, Nancy (Chad) McCole, John (Theresa) Proudfit, Andrew (Jen) Swan, Michael Swan, Alissa (Rick) Cmejla, Annie (Mike) Ghere; 24 great grandchildren Elisabeth (Dan) Paoli, Dan, Josh, Emily and Paul Droese, Abby and Jessica Tomasoski, Michael, David, Marc and Annie McCole, Karen, Brandon, Hannah, and Kalli Proudfit, Drew, Elora, Charlotte and Liam Swan, Lucas Andreini, Jacob and Annabelle Cmejla, Lauren and Natalie Ghere; 3 great great grandchildren, Mason and Maddox Paoli, Riley Proudfit; many special nieces and nephews The visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. The funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 11:00 am at the St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kingsford. Fr. Michael Woempner will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be next to her husband in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park. Jeannette's grandsons, Andrew Swan, Michael Swan, and great grandsons Lucas Andreini, Josh Droese, David McCole and Brandon Proudfit will serve as Pallbearers.
