Jean Zeitz

Jean Zeitz, 92, of Kingsford, MI, died on Friday, January 31, 2020. She was born in a little house in East Kingsford, MI, daughter of the late Charles and Lula Carey. She had one brother, Jack (Beebe) Carey, and two sisters, Anne (Jim) Meyers and is survived by her sister Frances (Buzz) Elliott of Milwaukee. She graduated from Kingsford High School in 1945 and was a lifelong resident of the area. Jean married Jule Baudhuin in 1953, and he preceded her in death in 1974. They had two children, Mary (Michael) Eldridge of Iron Mountain, MI, and Kevin (Linda) Baudhuin of Chicago, IL. She married Bernie Zeitz in 1980, and he preceded her in death in June of 2019. She is further survived by 3 stepchildren: Rhonda (Ken) Fagan, Kathy (Ken) Yates and Barry Zeitz, all living in Canada. Jean's priorities were her faith, family and friends. She loved God, her Catholic faith and American Martyrs Parish. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, Kate (Dave) Schwiderson, Megan (Pete) Niepoth, Patrick, Jack and Jennifer Baudhuin, and four great-grandchildren. She was blessed to have so many great friends who cared so much about her. We thank you all! She enjoyed belonging to the Women's Club, Study Club and PEO Sisterhood Chapter, where she was most recently honored for being a 50 year member. She had a very special place in her heart for her Irish heritage, the birth land of her father who emigrated from Ireland in 1912. Alaska was also special to her, where her close cousin Sid Wright lived. She and Bernie fished and laughed in Alaska often (12 trips). Mom was known for her love of desserts and chocolate, often asking when out for dinner or lunch, “what is the dessert?” before ordering. A celebration of Jean’s life will be held on Thursday, February 6th, 2020. Visitation will be from 9:00 - 10:30 AM at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at American Martyrs Catholic Church where Fr. Joseph Gouin will officiate. Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to American Martyrs Catholic Church of Kingsford, MI.
