Jean Marie Toedter

Jean M. Toedter, 78, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Friday, July 14th at Dickinson County Hospital with her loving family by her side. Jean was born on June 7, 1939 in Manitowoc County, WI, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Mary Ann (Koeppel) Lodl. She was a 1957 graduate of Lincoln High School in Manitowoc,WI. Jean married the love of her life, William (Bill)Toedter on February 7, 1959 in Dubuque, Iowa and they have shared 58 years together. They moved to Iron Mountain in 1973. Jean worked as a Nurse's Aide at Dickinson County Hospital for over 26 years and retired in 2004 at the age of 65. She also worked at Hyland Nursing Home for several years, sold Avon for over thirty years, and volunteered at the Iron Mountain VA Hospital. Jean enjoyed walking, flower and vegetable gardening, and attending the DCH retiree luncheons. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed collecting things. Jean especially enjoyed the holidays and spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. Jean's legacy will be her positive attitude and ability to make everyone around her happy. The family is so blessed to have been given this last year with her, as she was such an inspiration to all of us and we have some especially precious memories which will be dearly cherished Jean is survived by her husband, William; three children, Barbara (Joseph) Toedter-Smits of Iron Mountain, Lori Pavlat of Iron Mountain and Bryan Toedter of Iron Mountain; brothers and sisters, Kenneth (Diane) Basken of Manitowoc, WI, Janice Zich of Manitowoc, WI, Kenneth (Kathie) Lodl of Manitowoc, WI, Nancy Lodl of Manitowoc, WI, Bob (Kathy) Lodl of Francis Creek, WI, Kay (Todd) Wallander of Whitelaw, WI and Benjamin (Anna) Lodl of Manitowoc, WI; two grandchildren, Amanda and Molly Pavlat and one great grandchild, Evie Smits. She was also survived by an adopted family member, Mikie Larson and many nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by two sisters, Lois Savage and Debbie Lodl.
