Janice Premo

KINGSFORD - Janice L. Premo, 67, of Kingsford, went to be with the Lord with her children at her side on Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital. She was born on March 23, 1942, in Dearborn, Mich. Janice graduated from Norway High School in 1960. She worked for many years at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in the dietary department as a cook. She enjoyed knitting, coffee clutching, playing cards, gardening, and pets, especially cats. Janice was very social and enjoyed visiting with people and helping others. Everyday she looked forward to spending time with Family Ties' folks and attended the First Covenant Church. Janice is survived by her children, Dean Prudhomme of Elkhart, Ind. and Sharon (Kevin) Kazianka of Kingsford; her mother and stepfather, Edith and Woodrow Brewer; sister, Vicky (Scott) Patterson; two brothers, Roger (Carol) Brewer and Gary Brewer, all from Phelps, Wis.; aunts, Neva (Auther) Shaw of Redlands, Calif., Lila Burkett and children of Port Huron, Mich., Wilma Burkett and children of Chicago; great-aunt, Mable Heikkimen of Phelps; her former husband, Ken "Buzz" Ropelle of Norway; and two grandchildren, Elisa and Marcus Kazianka; and her extended family, Tammy Tomassucci, Angie Johnson, Pauline Williams, and Sue Warner at Family Ties. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ira and Lola Burkett; two uncles, Alvin and Bud Burkett; her first husband, Terry Prudhomme; and her third husband, Sylvester Premo. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Peter Erickson will officiate. The family would like to thank the girls at Family Ties, Dr. Schroeder and her staff, the staff at Freeman's Nursing and Rehabilitation Community, and the nurses at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital for the tender loving care they gave Janice, and the Dickinson County Cancer Unit for their support over the years.
