Janet Michaud

Janet May Michaud, of Quinnesec, died Wednesday April 21, 2010 at the home of her daughter in Kingsford. She was born on May 1, 1922 in Iron Mountain, the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Antilla) Nelson. She was a lifelong resident of Quinnesec and graduated from Quinnesec High School in 1940. On August 23, 1941, she married Charles Joseph Michaud at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Loretto. They resided in Quinnesec and raised five children. Janet and Charlie enjoyed camping and took their fifth wheel trailer to the Black Hills, the west coast, and to the east coast. She enjoyed going to bingo and the casino. She was a longtime member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church previously served as a Eucharistic minister. Janet had been a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader when her children were young. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She also enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s ball games. Janet is survived by three daughters, Barbara (Gerald) Hosford of Lansing, Mary Lou (Thomas) Sutphen of Howard City, MI, Kathy (Deen) Michaud of Kingsford; two sons, Wayne (Mae) Michaud and Gale (Linda) Michaud, both of Quinnesec; eight grandchildren, John (Jane) Hosford, Donald Hosford, and Jeffrey Hosford, all of Lansing; Cindy (David) Thuma of Lansing, Brandon Michaud (Kim Wilson) of Iron Mountain, Daniel Michaud of Chicago, Cole and Abby Michaud of Quinnesec; three great grandchildren, Timothy Hosford, and Taven & Lance Thuma all of Lansing; nieces Linda Westman, Sue Long, Penny Struble, and Lois Barglind; and nephews Richard Nelson and Allan Nelson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie, in 1988; three brothers, Charles, Donald, and Robert Nelson; her twin sister; Joyce Swanson; four infant sisters, Lorraine, LaVerne, Eunice, and Doris Nelson; and 1 nephew, Charles Nelson. Janet will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Friends may call from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Friday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 12:30pm at St. Mary & St. Joseph Catholic Church. Fr. Daniel Zaloga will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in the Quinnesec Cemetery. Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Condolences to the family of Janet M.
