Janet L. Lucas

Janet L. Lucas, 79, of Wallace, formerly of Iron Mountain, was called to God on Thursday, April 15, 2010, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, Wis., with family at her bedside. She was born on Aug. 12, 1930, in Aurora, Wis., the daughter of the late John and Gerda (Roos) Weber. She graduated from Kingsford High School. Janet married Harry Lucas at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Aurora in 1953. She worked at the Commercial Bank in Iron Mountain first as a teller then as a bookkeeper. She then went to work with her husband as the bookkeeper, and much more, at the family business H. Lucas Powerline Construction Co., then for Lucas Cycle City, next was Briar Mountain Ski Resort, and finally the Little Bear Golf Course. While moving around through the years,she was a member at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Foster City, Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Menominee, and St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kingsford. It is said that Janet lived her life in service of others, and her smile was contagious to those around her. She loved life, Jesus, and her family. Spending time with family was very important to her, they were her life. She loved to visit with family, be it children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters or friends, she loved company. She enjoyed gardening, her flowers, fishing, painting, crafts and golf. While raising her children she loved making their clothes. She was an avid Green Bay Packers Fan. Janet is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Harry Lucas of Wallace; children, Debra (Rodney) Carlson of Foster City, Dianne Lucas of Iron Mountain, David Lucas of Iron Mountain, Doreen (Brian) Miller of Fairview, Texas, and Denise (Tom) Davidson, formally of Menominee; grandchildren, Stacy (Mike) Nylund, Rodney (Madge) Carlson Jr., Lucas Carlson, Kendelle Carlson, David Lucas Jr., Amanda Lucas, Callie Miller, Collin Miller, Mario Alessandrini, Matthew Alessandrini, Mitchell Davidson; great-grandchildren, Harley Jo Nylund, Mike Nylund III, Chase Carlson, Andi Carlson, Evan Lucas, Deanna Lucas, and Wyatt Lucas; sisters, Doris Brown of Kentucky and Margaret (Ronald) Olson of Aurora; sisters-in-law, Delores "Dee" Weber, Betty Weber, and Gerri Weber; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Janet was preceded in death by brothers, George, Edward, and Robert Weber. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with rosary at 6:30 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Visitation will also be Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kingsford. The funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Fr. Michael Woempner will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her memory. Condolences to the family of Janet L.
