James Khoury

IRON MOUNTAIN - James I. Khoury, 83, of 1525 E. Margaret St., Iron Mountain, died peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, at his home. Jim was born Aug. 21, 1926, in Channing, son of the late Samuel and Ruth (Kurth) Khoury. He married Marjorie Allen on Jan. 9, 1950, in Iron Mountain. Jim joined his brothers, Harry and Edward in their furniture manufacturing business, Khoury Brothers, and they were later joined by their other brother, Jack. He was a former member of the Chippewa Club, Pine Grove Country Club and the Elks. Jim was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, tying flies and spending time at his camp on the Michigamme River. He also enjoyed his early morning coffee crew. Jim loved his grandchildren and great- grandchildren and enjoyed watching them participate in various events. His grandchildren affectionately called him "Jiddo". Jim is survived by his wife, Marge; one son, Daniel (Nancy) Khoury of Iron Mountain; three daughters, Joan Khoury and Kathy Khoury, both of Silver Lake and Jane Khoury (John Newkirk) of Iron Mountain; six grandchildren, Khristopher (Jennifer) Khoury, Becky (Kevin) Knapp, Melissa Khoury, Marcus Khoury, Heather Pummill Petroff (Simon Petroff) and Khoury Pummill (Mike Pirlot); seven great-grandchildren, Hunter, Asher, Molly, Cynthia, Carmela, Noah and Adeline; and a special family friend, Jeff Scott Jr. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry, Edward and Jack Khoury and three sisters, Viola Franz, Carmela El Khoury and Elaine Skaff. Visitation will be held on Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park. Pallbearers will be Khristopher Khoury, Kristopher Lyman, John Newkirk, Simon Petroff, Michael Pirlot, Jeffrey Scott, Jr. and Thomas Skaff.
