James "Coots" Cootware

James “Jim” “Coots” Cootware, 62, of Norway passed away peacefully on March 12 at the Dickinson Memorial Hospital with family at his side. He was born to Allan and Rosie (Baso) (Fuller) Cootware on September 12, 1959 in what was then the Anderson Hospital. He graduated from Norway High School, class of 1977. Jim married Linda (Granquist) on January 20, 1989. He spent his life in Norway, living much of it at the family home on Forest Drive. Jim worked in construction with his Dad during high school. After graduation, Jim continued to work at construction and also worked at the local saw mills. Jim ended his work career, working at Northern RV, when he retired due to medical issues. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Patricia Fuller, his father-in-law Jack Granquist, 3 brothers-in-law, Michael, Gerald and James Granquist and 1 sister-in-law, Cheryl Hetchler. Jim is survived by his wife of 33 years, Linda, a daughter, Niki Sanders of Niagara, a son Kyle Cootware (Jessi Carey) of Vulcan and 4 grandchildren, Logan Carlson of Shawano, Adrianna Sanders of Niagara, Javen Carlson and Maverik Cootware, both of Vulcan. He is further survived by a brother Dennis (Cherie) Fuller of Green Bay and a sister, Diane (Brian) Wallace of Howell, Michigan. He is also survived by 2 sisters-in-law, Doreen (Rocky) Carlson of Cambridge, MN and Debra (Dennis) Greenleaf of Quinnesec and 2 brothers-in-law, Steve (Marcia) Granquist of Spaulding and Brian Granquist of Norway, and at the time of his passing, by his mother-in-law Shirley Granquist. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Jim loved the outdoors, hunting (including Morel Mushroom Hunting), fishing and wood working. He loved to make things for the family. He enjoyed going to Rummage and Garage Sales with Linda, and also enjoyed showing off his “finds”. He most enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. Family and friends are invited to a service and Celebration of Jim’s Life at the Norway Evangelical Covenant Church (120 O Dill Drive, Norway) on Friday, May 6, 2022, beginning with visitation at noon, service at 1:00 p.m., with a burial service to follow at Norway Cemetery. There will be a luncheon at the church following. The family has entrusted Erickson-Rochon Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with arrangements. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Critical Care Unit at Dickinson Memorial Hospital for their care of Jim. Also, our thanks, to Pastor James Danielson for visiting Jim during his hospital stay. And, special thanks to Doreen & Rocky Carlson and cousin, Denise Nault for all they do.
