Hildred Hanson

KINGSFORD - Hildred Lenore Hanson, 89, of Kingsford died Saturday, March 6, 2010, at the Eastwood Nursing Center in Negaunee. She was born on Aug. 3, 1920, in Carney, the daughter of the late William and Clara (Johnson) Berquist. Hildred was a longtime resident of the Iron Mountain-Kingsford area and a graduate of Iron Mountain High School. She worked as a personnel manager and department manager at Kresge's for more than 30 years. She loved her job and had many fond memories of her co-workers at Kresge's. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved celebrating holidays and family birthdays. She also enjoyed cooking, baking and doing crossword puzzles. She married Clair Hanson, the love of her life, on Sept. 21, 1938, in Iron Mountain. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary before he preceded her in death on March 26, 2009. Hildred is survived by three grandchildren, Pam (Jim) Thompson of Negaunee, Ron "Pete" (Sharon) Calovecchi of Marquette, and Roxanne Coss of Marquette, five great-grandchildren, Nick Thompson, Casey Calovecchi, Curt Calovecchi, Kristin (Tim) Marczak, and Allison Coss. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law, Gerald Hanson and Kleo (Yvonne) Hanson; sisters-in-law, Crystal Dulan and Shirley Berquist; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Deanna Calovecchi; two brothers, Leonard Berquist and Lloyd Berquist; and one sister, Harriet Erickson. The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to the Eastwood Nursing Center staff for their excellent care and for adopting Hildred as part of their Eastwood family. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.
