Gunhild M. Steinbrecher

Gunhild M. Steinbrecher, 94, of Felch, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 16, 2020, at Maryhill Manor in Niagara, WI. Gunhild was born on March 24, 1926 in Felch, daughter of the late John and Hanna (Nyholm) Anderson. She was raised in Felch and was a 1944 graduate of Felch High School. Gunhild married Wilbur Steinbrecher on November 11, 1944 at St. Mary and St. Joseph Church in Iron Mountain. She and Wilbur raised ten children while operating the family potato farm in Felch. Wilbur preceded her in death on February 25, 2004. Gunhild was a member of St. Joseph Church in Foster City and the church Altar Society. She was also a 4-H leader and drove a school bus for North Dickinson School for several years. Gunhild was an expert gardener and canned many of her garden vegetables each year. She also enjoyed knitting and was a talented seamstress. In addition to her parents and husband, Gunhild was preceded in death by her son, Mark; grandson, Alex Schuiteman and brothers, Oliver and Gunnar Anderson. She is survived by her children, Bonnie (Donald) Froberg of L’Anse, MI., Leon (John Juneau) Steinbrecher of Green Valley, AZ, Kathy (Bob) Mattson of Felch, Linda (Norman) McCrary of Green Valley, AZ, Teresa (special friend,Bob Fuse) Bryant of Iron Mountain, Adrian (Jackie) Steinbrecher of Payson, AZ, Michael (Pam) Steinbrecher of Foster City, Mary Beth (Paul) Schuiteman of Felch and Daniel (Mary) Steinbrecher of Felch; her sister, Rose (Carl) Steele of Randville; twenty four grandchildren; thirty six great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at 11:00am from St. Joseph Church in Foster City. Fr. Daryl Pepin will offer the Mass of Christian burial. Burial will be in the Felch Cemetery. Gunhild’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her memory.
