George A. Buck

George A. Buck Jr., 75, of Goodman, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, at his son’s home in Pulaski, WI. George was born on August 28, 1944, in Goodman, WI, son of the late George and Ruth (Nelson) Buck. He grew up in Goodman and was a graduate of Goodman High School class of 1963. After attending college for a short time, George joined the United States Army. He served with the Army from 1965 until his honorable discharge as a Sergeant in 1968. George served as a Marinette County Deputy Sheriff for over ten years, retiring in 1979. He was very involved in the Goodman community and was active in many organizations over the years, including being an over fifty year member of the Goodman American Legion Post #325 and life member of the Green Bay Veterans of Foreign Wars; George was also a member of the Union Protestant Church in Goodman, the Goodman-Armstrong Creek Lions Club, Goodman Conservation Club and the Shrine Club. He was proud to have saved the Goodman Club House from demolition and along with many family and friends, the club house became the focal point for many community and private events. Like all parents, George loved to talk and brag about his children and grandchildren whom he was so proud of. His greatest joy was spending time with family and friends in one of the many activities he was involved in over the years. He also enjoyed woodworking and was an excellent cook. He will be greatly missed by his best buddy, his dog Gizmo. George was preceded in death by five brothers, Harold, Lloyd, Richard, Ronald and Terry. He is survived by his children, Ginnette (Jerry) Bauer of Wrightstown, WI, George (Yvonne Blahnik) Buck III of Luxemburg, WI, Brian (Mindy) Buck of Pulaski, WI and Patty (John) Edelbeck of Iron Mountain; three grandchildren, Cameron Buck, Sydnie (Foster) Unsinn and Nicholas Buck. George is also survived by his cousin who was like a brother, Pete Morgan, and many other nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be on Saturday, Nov. 16th from 9:00 am- 12:00 noon at the Union Protestant Church in Goodman. Funeral services will follow at noon at the church. Rev. Henry Yoap will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow the church services at the Glenwood Cemetery in Goodman. Pallbearers will be Nick and Cameron Buck, Jerry Bauer, Bill Draeger, Kevin Rocque, Chad Ebert, Fran Lindquist and Pete Morgan.
