Fredrick F. Glasure

Fredrick F. Glasure, 92, of Kingsford formerly of Randville passed away on Friday, November 28, 2014, at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center. Fred was born on March 25, 1922 in Escanaba, Michigan, the son of the late Fredrick and Esther (Alquist) Glasure. Fred was raised in Wells, MI. He served in the European Theatre with the United States Army during WWII. Following his honorable discharge from the army, Fred returned home. The horrors of war were now part of his past, but he, like all the other Americans had to put it all behind him and get on with his life. In 1950, Milwaukee Wisconsin was a growing community so he went looking for work. Fred worked at some of the major corporations in the Milwaukee area including, Allis Chalmers and Schlitz Brewing Co. before settling at American Motors/Chrysler where he worked until his retirement in 1986. He married Viola Holt in 1966 and she preceded him in death in 1980. Following his retirement, Fred moved to Randville. He actively attended Grace Presbyterian Church in Sagola and the Randville Bible Chapel. Fred loved music and loved to sing. He was known at WIKB Radio as "Singing Fred" for his frequent calls and singing during telephone time . He was also a member of the Iron Mountain Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3674. Fred was an avid North Dickinson Sports fan and loved dogs. He is survived by several dear loyal friends and caregivers. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, Earl and Frank Glasure; two sisters, Marion Glasure and Stella Brown. Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 3rd from 2:00-3:00pm at Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will follow at 3:00pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in the Sagola Twp. Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the The Uren-Cooper Johnson American Legion Post #50 and VFW Post 3674.
