Francis Gagnon After a battle with cancer, Francis Gagnon passed away on Friday, September 22, 2017 at Florence Health Services where he was a resident. Fran was the oldest son of the late John and Joyce (Provencher) Gagnon of Kingsford. Born on May 22nd, 1950, he was given tremendous responsibility as oldest boy in a large family. He accepted that role with dedication and guided his siblings courageously. A graduate from Michigan Technological University, he attained a degree as an electrical engineer. He moved to the Fox Valley area where he met and married Mary Giesen. They were the parents of two children. After living in Bloomington, Illinois and the Milwaukee area, Fran spent the greatest portion of his life in the Fox Valley area, particularly Neenah, Wisconsin. For the past year and a half and due to ill health, he made his home at Florence Health Services. As a loving brother, son and father, Fran was appreciated for his gentle and kind ways. He will be remembered for his gift of playing guitar, love of animals and his pets including German Shepherds. A steward of nature, he enjoyed years of hunting and walking in the woods. He developed a great “green thumb” in horticultural activities, enjoyed beekeeping and other related hobbies. He leaves his children, Shawn Gagnon of Neenah, his daughter Kim (Yi) Vang of Appleton, his sisters Becky Robert, Gretchen Spera, Wendy (Keith) Zambon, Jeanne (Paul) Castor, his brothers Ted (Holly) Gagnon, Perry (Michaela) Gagnon, Mark Gagnon, and John (Pam) Gagnon. He also leaves his grandchildren Thai and Isla Vang, many nieces and nephews and numerous cousins. He is preceded in death by his wife Mary, his parents, infant brother Rocke, brother-in-law Bill Robert, nephew Jason, and niece Camille. The family would like to thank all staff at Florence Health Services for their kindness and care of Fran. Per Fran’s request, there will be no formal services.
