Ethel M. Lidbeck

Ethel M. Lidbeck, 85, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers following a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born February 27, 1932 in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Stanley and Lillian (Pollard) Hicks. Ethel graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1950 and was a lifelong resident of the area. She married Warren Lidbeck on November 22, 1952 and he preceded her in death in 1993. Ethel was employed at the First National Bank in Iron Mountain as an auditor for over 40 years, retiring in 1993. She was a member of the Women’s Club and the First Covenant Church where she served with the Covenant Women and sang in the choir. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, ceramics, gardening and her flowers. Ethel loved spending time at their cottage in Spread Eagle with family and friends. She is survived by her children, Daniel (Mary) Lidbeck of Aurora, Terry (Patti) Lidbeck of Kingsford, Larry (Rochelle) Lidbeck of Breitung Township and Brian (Diane) Lidbeck of Grand Rapids, MI; two brothers, Merlin Hicks of Kingsford and Gordon Hicks of Breitung Township; a sister, Carol (Tom) Bates of Kingsford; a sister-in-law, Winnie Hicks of Kingsford; grandchildren, Heather (Bill) Mosher, Andrew (Danielle) Lidbeck, Melissa (Marc) Burie and Kevin (Kristi) Lidbeck; great grandchildren, Christopher Burie and Miles Mosher; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Ethel was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Stanley Hicks; a sister, Betty Forcey; a brother-in-law, David Forcey; and two sisters-in-law, Lindes Hicks and Kathleen Hicks. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 14 from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm at the First Covenant Church in Iron Mountain. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 pm on Tuesday at the church. Rev. David Wilton will officiate. Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.
