Donald Willman

TRAVERSE CITY - Donald D. Willman, 71, of Traverse City, lower Michigan, formerly of Iron Mountain, passed away peacefully, Monday, March 26, 2007, at home. Donald was born Oct. 3, 1935, in Iron Mountain, to Paul T. and Lela M. (Warren) Willman. He graduated from Iron Mountain High School, class of 1955. On June 6, 1959, Donald married the love of his life Darlene A. Wentarmini in Iron Mountain. He worked as the assistant administrator of operations at Michcon until his retirement in 1995, after 30 years. Donald was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, a 4th Degree in the Knights of Columbus, instrumental in the Miss Michigan State Scholarship Pageant for more than 30 years, and a past president of the Iron Mountain Jaycees. Don was proud of his blood donation of nearly 10 gallons to the Red Cross. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed bowling, and loved to travel, especially cruises. Donald is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Darlene; two children, Diane Willman of Dewitt and David Willman of Traverse City; granddaughter, Karessa Willman of Traverse City; two brothers, twin brother, Ronald (Darlene J.) Willman of Iron Mountain and Everett Willman of Janesville, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his brother, Robert. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. at Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City. Visitation will also take place on Friday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Tondin-Ross and Freeman Funeral home, 1117 Carpenter Ave. in Iron Mountain, and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The 4th degree Knights of Columbus will conduct the rosary at 7:30 p.m. on Friday evening. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. Fr. Daniel Zaloga will officiate. Entombment will take place at Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain. Memorial contributions may be directed to Munson Hospice.
