Dean R. Jacobson

Dean R. Jacobson, 81, of Iron Mountain, died Friday, January 2, 2015 at the Golden Living Center in Florence. He was born on Sept. 19, 1933 in Felch, the son of the late Hjalmer and Ellen (Mirander) Jacobson. Dean worked in the woods for several years and then moved to Iron Mountain. He worked at Lodal, Inc. as a welder and assembler for thirty years until his retirement. Dean married Yvonne Cerasoli on May 5, 1962 at the First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and Packer fan. He enjoyed gardening and was proud of the vegetables that he grew. Dean was a devoted husband and father. He took on the responsibility of raising four stepsons and loved them like they were his own, while supporting his four daughters from a previous marriage. Dean's pride and joy was his family. He loved to tease them, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years Yvonne, one son James (Gail) Jacobson of Spring Lake, two daughters Denise Jacobson of Kenosha, WI and Jean (Gordon) Hoskins of Cropwell, Ala., four stepsons David Butterfield of Gwinn, Brian (Robin) Butterfield of Batavia, OH, Stephen (Kristy) Butterfield of Yukon, OK, and Randy (Beverly) Butterfield of Kingsford, 3 special sisters-in-law Carol Vick, Laura Jacobson, and Carol Cerasoli, and one brother-in-law Daniel Dixon, twenty-three grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Dean was preceded in death by two daughters Cindy Olsen and Nancy Jacobson, four sisters Margaret Steel, Hannah Lundin, Bernice Dixon, and Adeline Salbeck, two brothers Elroy Jacobson and Alan "Porky" Jacobson, and several brothers-in-law. Visitation will be Wed. from 2-4pm at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wed. at 4 pm at the funeral home. Rev. Douglas Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in the Felch Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at the Golden Living Center for the wonderful care they gave Dean and the support they gave his family, especially Yvonne.
