Dana E. LaPlante

Dana E. LaPlante 54, of Norway, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Aurora Baycare Hospital in Green Bay, WI. He was surrounded in love in his bodies passing by his wife of 23 years Linda; his sister and brother in love, Laura and Richard Greenwald; parents in love Glenn and Arlene Butterfield and with his families and friends love and prayers near and far. Dana was born August 5, 1960 in Portland, Maine, son of the late George Sr. and Shirley LaPlante. He was a United States Marine Corps. Veteran of Desert Storm. Once a Marine always a Marine. Dana was active in the Dickinson County Office of Veterans Affairs, Norway Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Marine Corps. League. He enjoyed his work at the Habitat Restore, his volunteering for our area Special Olympics and his Friday visits to the Norway ISD classroom to see the students and staff/friends on his route for Binks Coca Cola. With his passing he will leave a huge hole in our hearts and souls. Our family asks that you share his memories, smile and laugh. By doing so, he lives on. As in his life, he continues to help others on this earth through tissue donation. Dana will not only live on in our memories but also in those he helped in his death. This was made possible because we had talked about end of life choices and organ/tissue donation. We ask that you also have this talk with your loved ones of all ages, and please fill out the advanced directive. It is an easy form to fill out and you can get them at your local hospitals. Dana was preceded in death by his son, Alan; his parents; two brothers and others that he loved dearly and was loved dearly by them all. Visitation will be held on Tuesday December 2nd from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. A memorial service will follow at 1:30 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Rev. Joseph Basso will officiate. Military graveside honors will be held at Iron Mountain Cemetery Park following the funeral home services A memorial will be established in his memory. Life is precious, you mustn't waste it.
