Carol A. Nelson

Carol A. Nelson, 69, of Spread Eagle, died Sun. Jan. 18, 2015 at her home. She was born in Iron Mountain on Sept. 7, 1945, the daughter of the late Alfred and Elizabeth (Menapace) Hart. Carol graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1963. She attended a business school in Milwaukee, where she lived with her Godparents, Aileen and Leo Hart. Returning to Iron Mountain, she worked as a bookkeeper for M. Cohodes and Sons, Inc. and as a billing clerk for Geri Hedlund's Health Care and Billing of Iron Mountain, and for Laurie LaFleur at Tri-County Communications in Florence. While working at M. Cohodes and Sons, she met the love of her life, Ronnie Nelson. The couple married on May 1, 1976 at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. Carol enjoyed ceramics, cake decorating, playing cards, boating, and potting flowers She enjoyed baking and cooking for her family and friends. Carol was a caring person with a kind heart. She would do anything to help someone. Most importantly, Carol treasured the time she spent with her grandson, Gabe, especially playing games and reading books. She is survived by her husband, Ron, one daughter Kristen (Chad) Nelson Hayes of Florence, one sister Kathy (Dennis) Chellew of Vulcan, one brother Jeff (Cheryl) Hart of Iron Mountain, one special aunt Mary Badini of Iron Mountain, three grandchildren Gabe Nelson and Olivia and Katie Zirger, two nieces Laura (Brian) Munn and Jennifer Hart, two nephews Dan (JoAnna) Chellew and Tony Hart, two special friends Darryl and Sue Lee, great nieces and nephews Elaine and Jake Munn, and Zac, Erica, Jacob, and Brett Chellew, and many cousins. In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her mother and father-in-law Irma and Roy Nelson. Visitation will be Thurs. from 10-11am at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11am Thurs. at the funeral home. Father Daniel Zaloga will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park. Condolences to the family of Carol A.
