Carol L. Cheney

Carol L. Cheney, 89, of Iron Mountain passed away Friday, October 7, 2022 at Freeman Nursing & Rehabilitation Community in Kingsford with her family by her side. As the angel tucked our dear mother under her wings, she gracefully took her to the Almighty Father to enjoy eternity forever. Carol was born January 19, 1933 in Kingsford to the late Emil and Ingrid (Forslund) White and remained in this area her whole life. She married Kenneth Cheney on October 6, 1951 at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford and together they raised four wonderful children. Carol was a devout Catholic and had a special devotion to the holy Rosary, which she prayed faithfully. After raising her children she worked various jobs including at Monette’s IGA, Pine Grove Country Club, and Manor Care Nursing Home. In her free time she enjoyed crocheting, reading, baking, and cooking. Carol is survived by her four children; sons, Alan (Gina) Cheney and Steven (Debra) Cheney; daughters, Linda (Bob) Langin and Parma (Patrick) Langin; grandchildren, Brenda (Dawn) Stevenson, Michelle (Scott) Cheney, Kenneth (Amber) Cheney, Tammi (Joe) Lambie, Bill (Tara) Langin, Brian (Lynn) Langin, Sara (Eli) Healy, David (Marybeth) Langin, and Michael (Corie) Langin; and several great grandchildren. She is also survived by former special daughter-in-law, Wendy Peterson, and special friend, Evelyn Tavonatti. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Ken; parents, Emil and Ingrid White; a sister, Margaret Peterson; brothers, Emil and Lonnie White; in-laws, James and Theora Cheney; and granddaughter, Karen Cheney. Visitation for Carol Cheney will be held at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain on Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 9:45a.m. – 10:45a.m. followed by an 11:00a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford with Monsignor Joseph Gouin officiating. Pallbearers will be Dave Langin, Bill Langin, Brian Langin, Ken Cheney, Eli Healy, and Joe Lambie. Burial will be at Dickinson County Memorial Gardens.
