Calvin M. Formolo

Calvin M. Formolo 67, of Iron Mountain, passed away on, Sept. 16, 2014 at his home. Calvin was born September 7, 1947 in Iron Mountain, son of the late Myron and Lorraine (Desmarais) Formolo. He has been a resident of this area his entire life and was a 1965 graduate of Kingsford High School. Calvin married Joyce Ehgotz on June 5, 1976 in Iron Mountain. He worked in the grocery business at the Iron Mountain IGA, Red Owl and Super One stores for 48 years, retiring in 2009. Calvin was a member of the Iron Mountain-Kingsford Masonic Lodge and a former member of the Iron Mountain Elks Lodge. He loved his camp and spent his spare time there hunting, fishing and picking berries to make jam. Calvin was a talented mechanic and in his younger years he enjoyed working on and re-building cars. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, Carl Formolo; granddaughter, Jessica Cowling and his sister, Karen Nowasad. Calvin is survived by his wife, Joyce; children, Julie (Paul) Cowling of Iron Mountain, Joseph Hicks of Wisconsin, Calvin (Cheryl) Formolo of Iron Mountain, Mark Hicks of Wisconsin and Jodi Formolo of Iron Mountain; brother, James (Cory) Formolo of Arizona; grandchildren, Courtney (Nicholas) Hagen, Katie and Ryan Cowling, Jacob Formolo, Jordan McCarroll, Jason Fish and Theodore, Jonathon and Jenna Pineau; great grandchildren, Aiden and Jayden McCarroll. Also by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation will be Friday Sept. 19th from 9:00am-12:00noon at the First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford. Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon Friday at the Church. Rev. Michael March will officiate. A private burial will be held at a later date in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park. Pallbearers will be Terry Calvi, Greg Sorensen, Charlie Maynard, Don Koller, Steve Kakuk and Barney Hagberg. Honorory Paullbearers will be Dale Larson and Pat Verrette.
