Brooke Johnson

Brooke A. Johnson, 30, of Aurora, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at her home. She was born August 7, 1981 in Iron Mountain, daughter of Laurie (LaVarnway) Johnson and the late Thomas Johnson. Brooke graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1999. She continued her education at Northern Michigan University where she obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology. Brooke has been employed for the last three years as a job coach supervisor at Trico, Inc. in Kingsford. She loved being outdoors and enjoyed camping & hiking. Brooke also enjoyed doing crafts, scrapbooking, photography, and spending time with her family and friends. Brooke said that the birth of her daughter, Maya, was the happiest day of her life. She is survived by her mother, Laurie Johnson of Iron Mountain; her daughter, Maya Jean Meno; her fiancé, Randy Meno of Aurora and his daughter, Autumn; sisters, Ashlee (Tony) Punzel of Iron Mountain and Kristen Johnson (Mike) of Port Washington; a nephew, Collin Punzel; a niece, Megan Keltner; grandmothers, Noleen LaVarnway and Marian Johnson; aunts, Jodi LaVarnway and Debbie (Gordon) Jacobson; uncles, Mike (Heather) LaVarnway and Todd (Dawn) Johnson; cousins, Jamie LaVarnway, Justin, Ethan, Nolan and Allison LaVarnway, and Dana and Keri Jo Johnson; her Godparents, Jim and Winnie Fornetti; and her future mother and father-in-law, Dianne and Dave Stebbins. Brooke was preceded in death by her father, Tom Johnson; her grandfathers, Roy LaVarnway and Curt Johnson; and her uncle, David LaVarnway. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 7:00pm at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00am at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. Fr. Joseph Gouin will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Dickinson County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Randy Meno, Tony Punzel, Mike LaVarnway, Todd Johnson, Jim Fornetti, Pat Daugherty, John Hogberg and Doug Schupp. Condolences may be expressed to the family of Brooke Johnson online at www.ernashfuneralhomes.com.
