Brian J. Diercks

Brian James Diercks, 54, of Iron Mountain, MI, passed away June 21, 2024, at UW Health University Hospital in Madison, WI. He was born August 3, 1969, son of Edward “Jim” and Diana (Kaltenbach) Diercks. He was raised in Livonia and South Lyon, MI, and was a 1987 graduate of South Lyon High School. After high school Brian joined the Michigan National Guard in Grayling and served in the 107th Corps of Engineers, Company B in Calumet, MI. On August 25, 1990, Brian married Julie (Stone) Diercks, and they were married 33 years, raising three beautiful children. Brian graduated in 1991 with an associate degree in mechanical design technology from Michigan Technological University in Houghton, MI. The couple moved to the Iron Mountain area after graduation. Brian’s most recent occupation was as a forestry tree marking gun and paint specialist at Nelson Paint in Kingsford. He was previously employed at All Seasons Rental, Dickinson Homes, Home Depot, and Hometown Lumber. He was a member of St. Mary & St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. Brian was a big fan of the Detroit Lions, all the Detroit teams, and college sports. He was an excellent cook and enjoyed watching cooking shows. He loved spices, barbecuing and smoking foods. He enjoyed listening to Classic Rock, especially Bob Seger and AC/DC. Brian had a great love for his family, who will miss his jokes and sarcasm. He was always smiling and had such a big heart. He will be missed by his family, as well as his dog, Roxy. Brian is survived by his wife, Julie; children, Rebecca (Nathan) Perreault, Benjamin Diercks, and Holly Diercks; parents, Edward James “Jim” and Diana (Kaltenbach) Diercks; brother, Harold “Skip” (Melinda) Diercks; mother-in-law, Martha Stone; brother-in-law and sister-in law, Michael and Amy Stone; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Brian was preceded in death by his father-in-law, John Stone. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at UW Health University Hospital in Madison and to the staff at Marshfield Medical Center – Dickinson for their care of Brian. Brian received a liver transplant 3-1/2 years ago and kidney transplant in 2022. He was able to see his daughter get married, and his son and daughter graduate from college. His family will be forever grateful for that time and to the organ donor’s families. Become an organ donor today. Visitation will be held at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home on Friday, July 12, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain, MI. Fr. Janusz Romanek will preside. A BBQ luncheon will follow from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Diercks’ home. Burial will be at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton at a later date.
