Arthur Peterson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Arthur Peterson NORWAY - Arthur Morris Peterson, 75, of Norway, died Friday, April 2, 2004, at the VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain. He was born Aug. 20, 1928, in Norway, son of the late Arthur and Myrtle (LaCrosse) Peterson. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He later worked for Meijers in Grand Rapids where he met his wife, Mayme McGraw. They were married on Feb. 17, 1962, in Warren, lower Michigan. He was a member of the American Legion. He never knew a stranger and always had a joke and a laugh for everyone. He enjoyed working at the skating rink in Norway and many times shared his lunch with the kids. Morry, as he was called, had many special friends and relatives and will be sadly missed by many. He fought a good fight to the end. And so it is wished, a very good journey to a very special husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He will not be forgotten. Morry is survived by his wife, Mayme Peterson and his children from a previous marriage, Richard of Detroit, Susan Taylor of Wisconsin, Johnny (Kyle) of Virginia, Cindy (Terry) Sorrell of Dearborn, lower Michigan and David of Wisconsin; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Peterson Mott of Norway and Elaine Boyd Squires of Gladwin, lower Michigan; a brother, Herbert (Betty) Boyd of Moreno Valley, Calif.; and nephews and nieces, Arty and Teddy Mott, Tom, Valley and Susan Boyd, Kathy Squires Jones and Pearl Squires Carr. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister, Edward, Jack and Steven Boyd and Gwenevere. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in Norway. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m at the church. The Rev. John Voelker will officiate. Condolences may be expressed to the family of Arthur M.
