Anton "Tony" Inglese

Anton "Tony" Inglese, 89, of Sagola, MI, died Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iron Mountain. He was born July 3, 1925 in Iron Mountain, son of the late Domenic and Mattea Marie (DeFrancesco) Inglese. He was raised on the northside of Iron Mountain and attended Iron Mountain Schools. He joined the U.S. Navy prior to graduating and served in the South Pacific in underwater demolition. He received his GED after returning from the war. After attending school in Detroit; Tony was an accomplished stone mason working on the Detroit Library and area Churches. Tony loved spending time with his family and looked forward to his yearly birthday party where his family would come together to celebrate with him. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, cooking, and canning. In his younger years, he enjoyed trips to his camp in the Huron Mountains and fishing. He was preceded in death by his wife, Waive, in 1999;, 2 brothers, Boston Inglese and Joseph "Mike" Inglese; 4 sisters, Ann LaVigne, Connie Formolo, Betty Wirta, Rose Irish, and; a step daughter Beverly. Tony is survived by 5 children, Suzanne (John) Traber of Powers Lake, WI, Jim (Pam) Inglese of Batavia, IL, Tom (Mary) Inglese of Kingsford, Tim (Becky) Inglese of Greenville, WI, and Sandy (Jim) Burrows of Greenville, WI; step-children, Kevin Smith and Dion Smith of Wisconsin. 12 grandchildren: Will Traber, Tyler (Kim) Traber, Jessica Traber, Tony (Melissa) Inglese, Bob Inglese, Josh Inglese, Sean Inglese, Trevor Inglese, Katie Inglese, Emily Inglese, David (Krystal) Burrows and Lindsey Burrows. 6 great grandchildren: Dominic Inglese, Henry Inglese, Sam Inglese, Blake Lauren Burrows, Pierce Burrows and Brielle Traber. Private family graveside services will be at the Dickinson County Memorial Gardens. The Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion #50 will conduct full military honors. In Lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established to help the military veterans at the V.A. Hospital.
