Alice J. Crosson

Devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend, died Thursday after a fall at home and a battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The retired office manager and homemaker was 77. Alice was born on May 17, 1946, in Norway, daughter of Victor and Jean (Prideaux) Carlson. Her family moved to Chicago in 1953. After graduating from Lakeview High School in 1963, Alice attended Mosser Secretarial School in Chicago at night while working full time for CCH Inc. While on vacation with her family in the summer of 1966, Alice drove to a Sinclair service station in Cripple Creek, CO. A tall, handsome attendant waited on Alice and the rest is history. It was love at first sight as he fell head over heels, quit his job, and moved back to Chicago to court Alice. She married Frank Crosson on May 20, 1967 in Chicago. The couple began their family with two boys in Chicago before moving to Kingsford in 1971. Their family grew with another boy and lastly a girl. Alice was a dedicated homemaker while their children grew. She prided herself by maintaining their home and gathering their busy family for home cooked meals each night. Alice put her office skills back to work when she joined Ball & Christy Furniture in 1984, where she worked until her retirement. Alice’s purest passion was her family. She enjoyed raising her children and being an active grandparent and great-grandparent. Her love of family was captured by her love for photography in countless family photos and videos. Sporting events, recitals, swimming meets, baseball/softball games, hockey games, etc. She loved to travel which provided perfect backdrops for her photography. Alice enjoyed gardening, dancing, sewing, and baking. Alice was preceded in death by her loving husband, Frank, adored brother, Phillip Carlson, and beloved son, Joseph. She is survived by a daughter, Lisa (Henry) McRoberts of Kingsford; children, Henry, Adelaide, and Margot; two sons, John (Julie) of Winnetka, IL; children, Joseph and Sloan; Jeffrey (Jenny) of Apache Junction, AZ; children, Sarah (Jason), Jon, Brittany, Alexander (Shakera), Andrew (Brittnee), CJ, Courtney, Austin; a sister, Diane MacFadyen of Iron Mountain; great-grandchildren Adalynn, Madyson, Gavin, and Olivia; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 8th at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. A service will follow at 11 a.m., with Pastor Michael March to officiate and a luncheon afterward.
