Alfred A. Glaser

Alfred A. Glaser, 96, of Kingsford, passed away on Wednesday, May 25. 2016 at his home. Al was born March 23, 1920 in Waucedah, MI son of the late Gustav and Bertha (Kamin) Glaser. He attended school in Watersmeet, MI and then went to work at CCC Camp Gogebic prior to serving his country. Al was a United States Army Veteran of WWII. He married Eunice Nye on May 18, 1946 at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford and they recently celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary. Al worked in the Wood Room and then the Calendar Department at the Niagara Paper Mill where he was employed for 36 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of American Martyrs Catholic Church. Al was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with family, especially his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Eunice; two sons, Alfred “Gus” (Gail) Glaser and Don Glaser, both of Kingsford; two daughters, Sally (Gerald) Payette and Susan Chartier, both of Kingsford; nine grandchildren, Lori (Daryl) Linnert, Lisa (Josh) Villringer, Jessica (Dan) Langston, Eric (Kristen) Glaser, Julie (Andy) McConnell, Tammy Payette, Tracy Payette (Heather), Nick (Julie) Johnson and Carissa (Brent) Poupore; 15 great grandchildren; a brother, Elmer (Lois) Glaser; and many nieces and nephews. Al was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Dean Chartier; a daughter-in-law, Pamela Glaser; a brother, Walter Glaser; five sisters, Alice White, Florence Guhse, Lillian Van Kuren, Evelyn Glaser & Esther Traxler; and an infant brother, Karl. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 9:00 to 10:30am at the Kingsford Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. Fr. Joseph Gouin will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Quinnesec Cemetery. The Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50 will conduct military graveside honors.
