Richard Anders

IRON MOUNTAIN - Richard J. Anders, 59, of Iron Mountain, lost his long and courageous 8 1/2 year battle of prostate cancer on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008 at his home. He was born on June 15, 1949, in Daggett, the son of the late John and Margaret (Richard) Anders. He moved to Iron Mountain at an early age and graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1967. Rich worked at Mirro Aluminum in Manitowoc for 12 years. He then moved to Portland, Ore., where he managed Handi Food Mart Corp. Rich moved back to Iron Mountain in 1992, where he worked at the Best Western Motel and Econo Foods. Rich enjoyed going to the casino, collecting sports cards, and working in the yard and garden. He was also an avid Packer fan. Rich was a kind, generous, and forgiving man and his family and friends were blessed to have him in their lives. He will be loved always and missed forever. He is survived by his soul mate, Amy, whom he married Sept. 20, 1996, in Iron Mountain. He is also survived by three stepdaughters, Stacey (Gordie) Pepin of Iron Mountain, Jennifer (Justin) Burgemeier of Kentucky, and Kimberly Wilson of Green Bay, Wis.; five grandchildren Brittany, Brandon, and Bradly Burke and Kacey, and Corey Pepin; brothers and sisters, Donna Anders of Marquette, Robert (Denorah) Anders of West Hills, Calif., Barbara (John) Gump of Crivitz, Wis., Pastor Dennis (Mary) Anders of Superior, Wis., and Paul Anders of Iron Mountain; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Earl and Ethel Snyder of Iron Mountain; brothers-in-law, Steven Snyder of Crivitz and William Snyder of Chilton, Wis.; sisters-in-law, Gloria (Clifford) Sandberg of Oconto, Wis. and Mary Snyder of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Kathy Snyder. Visitation will be Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Tondin-Ross & Freeman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.
